do you know how to enter service mode?
go to service mode *28* then select copier>display>acc-sts look if the nib is 0-not connected 1-connected check the status....

you need to assign higher number to your machine if the ip address from your router is dhcp and that machine never been opened for long days other device may get the ip address so that will be happened to conflict, try using your laptop to ping the machine you only have to do is set manually put ip address static to your laptop sample ip is 192.168.1.10 then to your machine is 192.168.1.11 same static address....then ping it

Poster tried connecting laptop directly so has ruled out any network or IP conflict issues

yes i read the poster but you cannot detect other device if you cannot configure your laptop manually.........using lan cable not usb cable.........

Re: Canon ir adv 8105 no power at Ethernet port

An IP conflict doesn't cause a Link to go down, the Link-led would be lit anyhow.
OP seems to be able to ping 127.0.0.1 ? So the Copier can ping itself.
I suspect a fauly port/RJ45 on the NIC, i mean, the physical connection to the network, not the NIC's electronics. His router sometimes gives a link-status, that would support the fault RJ45 connection theory..

yes i believe the same............. because ip conflict should not cause link led to go off...........
can i repair the rj45 port.........

Check if the pins inside are bend or out of place, but you'll probalbly will have to replace the board containing the RJ45 port...
