iR-C2880 progress bar hang

Hello people

merry christmas one & all

client moved this machine, powered it upon arrival, machine fires up, runs through checks, screen lights up and progress bar appears then hangs at about 2% in - the machine itself seems to come ready, because when i lift the ADF the exposure lamp lights and when i place paper in the ADF it does it's prep thing

pulled the HDD, mounted it in my confuser, ran Hitachi Drive Fitness Test all OK - ran chkdsk on it (no switches) and it showed a bundle of errors, so i presume the machine was shut-down improperly.

Should i run chkdsk /f and let it repair the drive? perhaps the bootrom or RAM are stuffing things up?

any pointers very much appreciated

The best option would be to re-write the SSW to the drive, i'd start there.

1. Also try running scan disk with in the copier, not from a computer.
2. You might try reformatting and reloading the drive first.
3. Hard drive going bad and needs to be replaced.

Like mentions before, remove boards ans clean with alcohol, dry well, and reseat them. Had purchased 20 of these machines, several of them had similar problem, googled and there is a Canon Bulletin on this. 75% of them worked, resold many of them and no issues. That was last year. Reseat all connectors and System RAM....Reinstall system software using SST (Overwrite All). If it hangs up again, replace the HDD. Make sure the drive is the right one for the C2880 machines... Canon only allows certain model drives to be used.

i knew someone was going to say reload the firmware - anyone got it? i've got SST & manuals, but no firmware

will also re-seat everything

scan disk in the copier? is that hold down 1 & 9 at power up?

Yes hold down 1&9 and turn the machine ON. Wait until the cursor is at the top left and the little boxes start to fall. Just let it run.

As above but if you have physically removed the copier HDD & fitted it to a Windows machine this may have deleted the system files.

ooops, forgot to update this thread

problem solved by re-seating everything, HDD required nothing
