[Misc] insert drum message Adv. irc5240/50

What tells the copier that drum unit is installed is it a sensor or patch on transfer belt being read. We have 4 out of nine units in our rental fleet that are displaying this message no error codes. Drum reinstall or replacement performed still n/g. Simple reboot copier comes back but limited prints maybe 25copies or prints before message appears mainly cyan and magenta drums and one blk drum. Thanks for replys

not sure about THAT model.. most times.. a chip in the consumables (drums-toners etc) and wire 'finger' contacts on the inside.
are you trying to use pre-installed units into the machine?
have you cleared counters on the drums etc..

please explain IN DETAIL what HAS/HASN'T been done!

This model uses a chip, so it can also detect a new drum & reset the counter etc.

Are you using genuine drums? I tried compatible & got this issue.

Also what version SSW are you using?

Know, I ran into that problem a few times in the IRC 2550's, 2880's 3480's, insert black drum, found that just by replacing the T/S belt, took care of message. there were several postings here in this site, from connections to firmware, ect. Replace T/S belt, even another one from a different machine, wierd, but it worked for me many times. Good Luck.

insert drum message on c3380 was a dirty problem with the ITb. Updated system software killed the false/incorrect error message.

Have been using some aftermarket drums in the C5030 and C5035 without a problem. I am using OEM drums and replacing the drum cylinder only. I will not use them in the higher ones. The HVT doesnt like it and there are other problems it causes too.
I have used Canon Imagerunner parts for sale. Most are floor model Color and / Advances Imagerunner with some 3025 3235 parts. Several intact machines being parted.

                hi.

if you look under the drum unit you will see a copper plate.

it grounds drum unit.make sure its connecting to the drum unit.
