[Misc] can't print via LAN cable

    hello guys ....

I have 3 new IR Adv 6255 engine units and 2 new IR Adv 6275 engine units some time ago I bought.

there are some serious obstacles in my opinion, 2 units of IR Adv 6255 and 1 unit of IR Adv 6275 cannot be printed via LAN cable.

even though the IP address settings are good and correct, it is likely what caused the machine to not be able to ping cmd.

please explain the problem that I am facing.
thank you for wanting to help

change the ipaddress or change to dhcp

than try ping. If you can't ping them you can't print

        You on the same network?

Get a switch connect your PC assign a hard iP
Address and turn off wireless connect copier assign a hard ipaddress to copier and ping it.

I have tried it by peer to peer (P2P) and it has not been successful at all

Triple check odds that 3 brand new machine's network card failed. ZERO!

initialize the machine back to factory default and try again. that will get rid off any settings that maybe causing the issue

Set DHCP on, reboot the machine does the copier pick up a new IP? if not set a static IP

Connect your laptop to the copier (on the same range) then can you ping & open the copier webpage etc?

Rule out the network before blaming the copier(s)

no one has asked this that I saw.....

do you have lights on the NIC?

you say you have setup the network but never mention the settings.....

post config pages from them maybe?

                        Some questions to ask....

-Some IT departments configure their network with DHCP turned OFF!! Check into that.

-Are they using Mac Address filtering? If so your machine will never have a valid IP address. You'll have to have them key in the machine's Mac addresses to "whitelist" the copiers.

-Are they using "Power over Ethernet" on their network? I've seen that fry network cards in Canon copiers in the past.

If you can connect directly to the copier via crossover cable... or by using a hub/switch, then the issue is definitely on the network.

I have tried to restore the default settings. the cable that I use is no problem trying on other machines. even when I connect the machine directly to the PC the result is still the same can not be connected

If you're trying to connect directly to the copier, you'll either need to use a hub or switch... or you need to connect with a crossover cable. Connecting straight to the copier with a regular Cat-5 cable isn't going to work.

Yes it is ! Nowaday's the crossing is done internaly in the laptop. I use a straight cable all the time..

                              Try the next thing :
                              - Shutdown copier
                              - connect a laptop with it's Ip set to 172.16.1.1, netmask 255.255.255.0
                              - press and hold no 1 and 7 on the copier, switch on copier, hold both keys until copier is booted and msg "Fixed IP" apears on the screen..
                              - ping 172.16.1.100 from the laptop

                              if that works

                              next :

open a browser and enter 172.16.1.100 in the adress bar, you should get the copiers web interface

                              If that works

                              next :

install new printer - TCP/IP on 172.16.1.100, install correct driver

                              print testpage..
