Re: Canon ADV C256i Cleaning transferbelt
*2) total pages on the belt?
*3) condition of the belt after you clean it?
*4) have you been cleaning out the belt cleaner area?
*5) what are you cleaning the belt with?
6) original OEM supplies?
7) what life count are on the drums?
8) how dirty is the rest of the machine?
9) how out of date are the PM cycles?
*very critical info
we do need the other info and maybe pics of the issues would help
is this what you do to clean the belt?

Re: Canon ADV C256i Cleaning transferbelt
Its very common on this range plus newer 356 models as well same ITB .Its just poor cleaning and contamination of ITB cleaner blade. There is a write up now of how to strip ITB cleaner to get to the blade so eliminates need to replace whole ITB.
Cant find the PDF at the moment but simply take a self tapper out of each side plus a pin either side that you have to ease out with a small flat blade then a pair of small pliers. To get to one of the screws you need to take white cover off and then a small gear on waste toner coil to get to the screw.
When youve removed pin and screw on both sides rotate blade up about 45 degrees and remove .
Clean blade and reassemble works a treat I did one yesterdayComment

Re: Canon ADV C256i Cleaning transferbelt
This post has been very helpful.
We have a ton of these machines in the field and this was becoming a big issue. I made a google document with instructions and photos of the issue that was presented here. I believe there is an excess of cleaning agent/setting powder on the blades from the factory and this is the major cause of the issue. Most of these
ITBs will fail at around 20-30%.
Here's hoping the updated part number has resolved the issue.
Let me know if there is anything in the document that is a little confusing or doesn't seem to make sense.

Re: Canon ADV C256i Cleaning transferbelt
You'll need to fit a new ITB, update the firmware then change a couple of service mode settings.

Thanks for the guide, nice work. I wonder if the blade is available to order, it looks like a generic one canon use on some other models ?

Re: Canon ADV C256i Cleaning transferbelt
Any idea if 357 series is affected? They use the same ITB.Comment

Re: Canon ADV C256i Cleaning transferbelt
this is related to FM1-a153-020 and below i think. So any model that uses that number will likely have the same issue. I havent had FM1-A153-030 in any 257s long enough to know if its defective yet but i did replace the ITB in a 257 recently with the updated part number because this issue had occurred.
Its safe to assume most of the 257/357s already in the field may have a faulty ITBComment
