IRC3380i Close right side door message won't clear

Yep, that what it sez. The door is closed tight and the front is closed tight.

The customer reports that it started about a week ago and they had to use tape on the door to the front door.
    Now that doesn't work.
I checked the I/O in svc mode. PO 4 bit 3 I think it was. It showed a 1 meaning the door open. I can manually push
that white button in the lower left area in with a small screw driver and it will show closed. I tried to put a piece of rubber on top
of the switch to help actuate the 2 micro switches I found behind the front door.
I'm missing something here. I am aware of 3 photo sensors in that system and blocked them.
    Any suggestions?
Has anyone replaced these switches because they were actually bad?
I'll have a look through the manual tonight.

    Thanks

    DR

Are any of the tabs broken or bent? These would be on the "door"side.

I remember seeing this a lot when I worked on these old boxes.

You are correct is is to do with then switch ass'y over time the front door becomes warped & doesn't make good contact with both micro switches.

I used to resolve this issue by putting thick tape on the white actuator part of the switch to put more pressure on the switches.

That unit has been modified see attached pdf.

Duffer, Thank you for your suggestion. It does not appear that any of the tabs are broken or bent. But I did
find a piece of plastic like a tab but it had a hook latch on it. I have not been able to locate where it came
from yet. May be today I will find it.

copier tech, Thank you for your reply and tech letter. I think that explains it all pretty well. I have saved it in to the folder
and will apply the info today. But I had almost all of that stuff out yesterday. I was pretty close, good thing it wasn't a snake.
        It might have bitten me.

        Thanks again both

          copier tech,
Thanks again for that letter. It helped a lot. I was able to remove the recommended pieces, but after that the aux pressure lever is useless.
I might as well have taken the whole thing out. I still had to shim the switch actuator with some self adhesive material about 2-3mms. But at least
          it is working again.

No worries these are still a good box for the age.

If you still have issues sometimes simply removing & refitting the right hand door helps the screws work loose over time.

Re: IRC3380i Close right side door message won't clear

I ended up taking the door off at one point anyway, the lower hinge pin popped out of the nylon thing ma jig.
I have couple more of those models out there too. I see that they are getting aged and I will try and replace them
              as soon as I can.
