[Misc] grid lines appearing on copies??

Hi guys im new here, I have just acquired a Canon iRC3170 photocopier and it prints an even grid pattern (about 2mm width and 7mm height) on top of what i've copied.
    Any ideas what causes this?

See cropped image from an A4 below

did you print from the PC or with an internal test? One question: did it work well before buying it? Check the drum units, connections.

Thanks GIUBOSS, The copier isn't connected to a PC, I just did a copy of my hand on the glass as the test. Unsure if it was doing this before I got it. Ok ill check the drums and connections.
Would it be a software or hardware issue?

            hi,

this is the old colour machine with the turret operation? if so, long time since ive seen one of those, but usually when you get an issue like this, the black dev is about to seize, is there a noise? there is also a very tiny drive gear, that wears down, think that is on the rear of the dev and or the drum is end of life, you should be able to see that in service mode.

Itb tension arms are known to break, sub-boards get poor connections too. This is an old turret type machine.. like the irc6800. They are garbage. Good luck even getting parts
