    Canon IR 5070 SMB errors

A prior working Canon IR 5070 now refuses to send scan jobs to network locations (via SMB). I keep getting errors 801 and 751. No network changes have taken place that could have caused the errors and I'm now stuck in my troubleshooting.

How can I reset the IR 5070's network settings to default? I'd like to wipe its config and start over, hoping to clear out any unseen issues within it.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

the 801 and the 751 smtp server address or name being wrong .. or some thing to do with the right DNS server address last is the FTP server...before you do any clears do a ipconfig/all make sure all your setting are right from a working computer.. if they are using outlook four email go in to double check the SMTP setting in internet opoins and make sure they are the same in the copier as they are on the screen.. perfectly the same down to the . make sure you can ping the smtp address it will give you a number to try also...

Thanks for your reply. All settings are the same as they were before they errors began occurring. We don't use the SMTP functions in the Canon. We only send SMB to a Windows share. This worked fine until one day it began malfunctioning.

I have tried using the FTP function instead and still get these errors. I can perform all these functions from any workstation to the server, just not from the Canon to the server.

Do you know how to reset the Canon's network settings to factory default?

Generally this is due to a rights issue on the folder you are scanning to.

Basic test is to browse to the network folder from another PC and attempt to save a file to it using the same login details attributed to the Canon device. If this is unsuccessful (and I've never come across a fault with an isend system so I'm betting it will be) you'll need to change the user rights on the folder to include the user attributed to the scanner.

Also make sure the user has rights to overwrite a file in the folder in case the scanner is attempting to reuse the same filename.

As I understand your question, you would like to reset ALL the network settings back to the factory defaults. To do that, you can enter service mode, functions, clear, and select MMI - ok. That will cause you to lose all the IP settings and also resets the printer settings to the factory defaults.

I would browse the network from the canon I am almost willing to bet that some one changed the password on the machine with the share and did not update the canon. But it has worked for x months and just out of the blue will not work. Also check How it is sending the file. Is it using the machine name or the ip address? if it is a server then the ip should not change. If it is a workstation it may change if it is restarted and should you hard code the ip then it is pointing to the wrong location. If it uses the name then verify the dns is current to the network. try pinging the workstation/server from the machine and see if it goes through.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

              Issue fixed...

I thought I'd reply (finally) to this thread on the issue. After many hours of frustration, it ended up being corporate Trend Micro AV that was not allowing the Canon to authenticate its access to the Windows share. I tested this by scanning to another computer using a local user's authentication... thereby bypassing the domain authentication. It worked, so I knew it was the domain controller causing the rights denial.

I uninstalled/reinstalled Trend Micro on the server and now everything works again. Thanks to everyone for helping.
