[CQ] IPC165 - Very faint lines/banding feed direction

    hi,

had a customer ring in about this CQ Issue, machine less than a year old, approx 79k on it, all drums/devs at about 17% of life, fuser and itb all very low in life. Checked single colours and all have the lines and all going thru all 4 colours on pg10s. These lines are extremely faint and show the image behind if that makes sense. Did a forced stop before the fuser and lines are on the image, checked devs, no lines. Cleaned both coronas and secondary transfer roller. Still same, lines dont move or change after cleaning. Did stir of all colours and still same lines appear. I have enclosed a scan of a pg10 but the scan quality is poor, you can see the lines on the top and bottom of the scan, i know the orientation is wrong but the lines are also thru the whole of the image. ITB looks perfect too, took of cleaning blade, cleaned and left off and lines still appear. I am thinking of the pri corona. Customer says he was doing a run of about 300 and all going well then all the lines appeared? not sure if thats genuine but seems a bit weird all these lines just appearing. All genuine OEM toner.

    tks

My friend your work is pretty messed up.

I can guide u directly , but listen first please.

First thing to ask yourself is , is the issue common on all colors?

If no, then work on that particular color.

If yes ,then what are the common parts?
    1)fixing
    2) secondary transfer
    3)itb belt

Since u stopped it before the fixing then u still have 2 things.

Stop it on the belt and check if the lines are visible , if yes then u eleminate the secondary transfer .

    Work on the belt assembly.

My suggestion is that the full itb assembly needs cleaning , all the rollers under the belt , scrapper , drive rollers etc...

    Clean the itb cleaning assembly.

    And test your job .

Update your results to be able to help u more

as i said on my post, the issue is on all 4 colours, the machine has done no work at all, 79k in total, i have stopped the print before the fixing assy. I scrubbed the secondary transfer even though its clean, there is no toner on the itb anywhere as its almost new. I am going back tomorrow with a primary corona to see if that resolves the issue

If you know what to do , dont ask for help here.

I tried to explain to you why it could be an itb issue , and then you want to try a primary corona .

        Best of luck

i was advised by a OCE trained engineer, to check the coronas, there are several bulletins on very similar issues on the 70xx series machines on SIMS, so thats why he directed me to try the coronas, also SIMS have bulletins about HVT and pcbs relating to coronas. I never went back to this call but it turned out to be the secondary transfer HVT unit. So thank you so much for your help on this. Nice attitude

Re: IPC165 - Very faint lines/banding feed direction

I see some lines unique to cyan, and others that affect all colors. So I would start with cyan primary charge and then second transfer for the rest. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I just wanted you to know how you are supposed to work on any issue. If you dont work in a logic pattern you will not be able to improve and solve hard issues.

What matters now is that your issue is solved.

                Good job.
