Canon IRADV C5250 Hard Drive

I have a hard drive failure on a Adv C5250 so I am replacing the drive. I have the system software
but I do not have the Hard Drive Format File. I can't get it from Canon. Is there another source I
can turn to?

what kind of error? i don't have third eye to see your error from here .

I have a problem with file iAC5255-XXxx0671-HDFormat.ift
When I try to format HDD the display show up the message:

////Hard disk format///
///Formating HDD. Do not out power.///
[ERROR]. Cannot read the format file
Formating HDD(ALL) ... Error

Hdd format ... Error
Remove USB device them shut down.
--- Please hit Reset key to start shut down. ---

I thought the .ift is bad.

Is it a Canon hard drive(Fk4-1550) or one repaired from approved Canon repair? If not, it won't work. And SST is the difficult(archaic)way to do it...get the "USB file" version of firmware and install it in download mode

its not the SST/Firmware/.ift is bad .

if you use original HDD from canon, then its already dead . buy new one .
the Firmware wont run except you use HDD type in the list on the firmware .

if you want to use firmware and format hdd, use one of this kind hdd type:
- Toshiba MK1676GSX
- Toshiba MK16GSX
- Toshiba MQ01ABF032
- Toshiba Laptop Thin HDD (not Momentus Thin)
- Hitachi 5K320-160
- Hitachi Z5K320-160
- Western Digital WD-1600BUCT
- Western Digital WD-1600BEVT

Don't waste your time and money getting a different drive unless its a Canon drive or one from approved dealer. They are encrypted. Older model copiers could use other drives if you modded ift file. Cannot do it for a 5250 HDD.....

HDFormat.ift is encrypted and can't be modifed .

the HDFormat.ift only will run if you use hdd model allowed on that script, just buy some model in my previous post, it will can be used on all x2xx machine .
usually i got second hand of HDD from computer store for $15 and can be used normally.

if your wallet have no limit, just go to canon or authorize dealer, and ask them new drive .

Actually you don't need to get the HDD from Canon. Simply replace with an identical one which you can purchase anywhere.

The HDD is only encrypted after it has been formatted & the system software installed.
