[Misc] Adapting adf canon 1025if ti canon 1023

Hi, I am adapting a canon 1025if adf to a canon 1023 that I have. Here are the steps I have done:

1.- install the glass for scanning from the adf, which goes on top of the large glass.

2.- Remove the retainers from the scanner that prevented the lamp from moving until the new small glass was installed.

3.- install the adf connecting it at the back, including the ground.

but the adf works badly, the roller that pulls the sheet does not lower correctly, sometimes it lowers and stays across and the original cannot be inserted, if it suddenly started pulling the sheets, it copies the first one, the second is blank , the third the copy, the 4th blank, and so on.

Can someone tell me if I need to change something? Because as far as I know these are modular equipment and they bring complete programming functions, it only comes with modules (or accessories) that can be added, such as drawer 2, adf, fax, network, etc. Sorry terrible english.

I hope for a helping hand with experience in this, thank you.

"iF" needs ROM PCB and USB flash memory for starters....plus different controllers, image processors. Mixing apples and oranges

even tho the wires may fit, you are running into logistic problems.

The 1025 and 1023 have different image processor boards, so yes probably firmware issues. I wouldn't waste the effort on turning a 1023 to a 1025 or vice versa, if it's possible at all. Good luck. We use them as boat anchors here(archiac, no TLS,etc)

Exactly. Do this on a newer machine(mixing boards) and you'll turn it into a doostop or boat anchor(E355s or something)

The ADF is from a 1025if, but the boards and PCB are from a 1023if, I'm triying convert a 1023 to 1023if, or 1023N at least. I'm triying add a simple adf, only, nothing More, the mechanical function Is complete, I only getting Random blank pages, and the service Manual say that I must upgrade the firmware, and un this point I'm stopped.

What firmware version I must put?

                  Sorry for my terrible english

Just because they may look the same does not make it so. You are trying to make a Frankenstein machine, as the others have said you are likely wasting your time and may brick both devices.

Ive had Similar issues with random pages being blank when going through the DF it was a legit 1025if though and the fix that i found was that in the DF part there are 2 solenoids i can't fully remeber which one....(i think the lower harder to get at) need to be replaced because they weren't firing properly. Give that a shot or easy way would be if you have anoher 1025 lid just try that and see what happens.
