Canon irc3100n where is the counter?

I am going to pick up an irc3100n that I sucessfully bid for on Ebay. I wish I had read some of the posts here before I bid! The description says it has done 36k colour copies. Where can I check this? So that I look as if I know what I am doing - which I don't!
And is it a colour machine or not? I found the descriptions on the Canon site very confusing.
    Regards, Penelope

Thanks Skrewtape, Do you think 36K is a low count?

Hi penelope, the 3100 is a color box, but it is "business color". Basically meaning you can do color but you are best keeping it to logos and graphs. It will do graphics like a photo but it should be kept to a minimum. I just wish you had asked us before you bought it. It is a tough job keeping it running well. When you need service make sure it is someone qualified and knows the machine. Also it would be a good idea to understand the user responsibilities such as running the auto gradation program. Good luck with your new machine.
Is the glass half full or half empty? I say neither. The glass is obviously full, full of potential. The potential to hold more water or the potential to quench a thirst. Life is all about how you see it.

also check that on rotation i.e when turned on there is very little noise (i know a bit hard due to the turret) but at 36k if the machine has been at idle i would suspect the fuser to flat spotted - where abouts are you? where is the machine?
what was the condition of sale?

Alex, I am in Winchester (Southampton?) the machine is in Ascot - I pick it up tomorrow. Sale was with Ebay and I don't want to lose my rep by backing out. However it was described as 'Full colour'. Your description doesn't sound like 'full' to me.

So do I - so do I. I didn't find this forum in my survey.

This is the only problem with buying too big, especially Canon. When it needs something it won't be cheap, and at low volumes you won't get those rated yields. Overall, I think you made the right decision. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Alex, Caveat ever so emptor! I'm ready to walk away from the whole thing and risk the bad rep on Ebay. Thanks for your help. Regards, Penelope

Blackcat, I haven't made the decision yet. What did you think was the right one to make? 3100 or 3200?

I don't really understand what 'buying too big' and 'rated yields' mean as I know nothing about photocopiers from your side of things.
I thought low volumes would be a good thing? Maybe not. Anyway, as I said above, I am ready to walk away.

I'm miserable now - and I was so excited. Hey ho.
                              Regards, Penelope
