    ir4570 jamming

Have a ir4570 that is jamming and the other tech can not find the problem. Sent him to get the jam code. He said it jams coming out of the cassette and sometimes at the fuser. He said sometimes he can run 100+ copies before it starts jamming. He replaced the paper feed rollers, replaced the right side door kits. It only jams when doing 8 1/2 x 11. Legal size it runs fine.

And it does not matter which cassette you run the letter side out of, it will jam. The legal size runs fine.

There is a flapper that sits above the fixing unit on the right side door when you close it. Sometimes it get stuck or does not open properly when paper exits out of the fixing unit.

Is it safe to figure the cassette dial is set properly (ltr & inch) and that (since it is a 4570) the vertical feed roller and door mods have been done?

Try switching to another drawer - same problem?

Just trying to narrow it down to if it is a single drawer (cassette), paper feed, fuser, registration issue. Jam code would be nice - if it is 0107 .....

Wash up the vertical path rollers in the cassette assemblies...if the jamming stops then replace the vertical path rollers.

The newer path rollers are grey not black. Are these installed as well.

could also be the paper. Had a brand new IR3225, less than 2k copies jam all the time. customer ran "staples" brand paper. Gave them a ream of our paper and the whole ream ran through fine. They now use different paper and haven't heard from them since.

Also..if the jam codes are 0108/0208/0107/0207 it could be the registration clutch.
OR you may just need to do the "curled paper" adjustments under service mode.

              Symptom
A delay jam (0107) occurs when a sheet gets caught in the Drum Cleaner during two sided printing under a high humidity environment.

              Cause
At the second side of printing the paper curl matches the curvature of the Drum which leads to a jam (the sheet cannot be separated from the Drum). The curl is excessive because the paper has a higher than normal moisture content.

              Action
When the symptom above occurs make an adjustment referring to the attached file "Procedure against Jam (0107) at the second side of two-sided copy". At that time the version of DC Controller firmware should be version 20.01 or later. The iR3045 series support this function from the initial production version (DCON v1.11).

This setting improves feeding, however as a harmful effect poor transfer may cause a blank area around the leading edge of 5 to 7 mm. Refer to page 3 of the attachment "[NOTE] Setting against Blank area caused by poor transfer" and make an adjustment.

pm me with an email addy and I'll send you the .pdf that goes with this.

                Hi Kuby,

Those 0107's, second side of duplex, due to paper curl, really respond well to that procedure that Oze is refering to. Also, when your tech calls,, get him in the habit of giving you the jam codes so we have more to work with ...

Hi what "vertical feed roller and door mods" are you referring to? Would you link the thread?

Also, anyone know how to replace a gear on a vertical roller for the IR4570? I am new to this and don't want to break anything.

                  Thanks in advance!!

A little searching would have provided the info you were looking for. Here is the link to a good discussion that handles your request, I believe.
