PC150 won't respond to pressing of start key

When machine is turned on machine poweres up and shows it is in auto exposure mode with #1 for 1 copy. The Start button is not lit Is it supposed to light up.. When I press start key nothing happens. Is this just indicative of bad print switch on operation panel or should I be looking at something else. There are no error codes and I left on long enough for it to power off automatically.
I know it's a cheap machine but customer is willing to pay up to $110 to repair it as they just bought cartridge 2 weeks ago. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

    try below:
check for a stuck key on panel ??

check platen/ turn off>move out of position> turn on PC> check key light ?
turn off>remove cartridge / turn on with out cartridge see if key lights up ?

On back of Start Key there is a small plastic tab that hits a small switch when pressed on control panel, it may have cracked off /+ led behind it could be bad, if none check call Canon/ free support on small desktop PC series
    or Call Canon first/1-800-828-4040

The usual problem with op panels is that skurf gets under the flange of one or more of the buttons, holding it down. Skurf is the dead skin cells, dirt, etc. that people shed when they touch stuff. There are three simple, easy things that you can do on any op panel.

      1) Disassemble the panel and clean the area around the buttons, and the buttons themselves. Glass cleaner and a Q-tip work fine. While you're there check that none of the buttons is broken or the button hinge busted.
      2) Check the op panel PWB for cold solder joints, especially around the Start, Stop, Clear, Auto Exposure, Paper Select, or where the connectors attach. Also check for cracks in the board as a result of pounding.
      3) Meter out any suspect switches. While soldered to a PWB they probably won't go infinite when open, but should close to 0.1 ohms when pressed. If the problem switch is an important one and you don't have a replacement, often you can swap a push switch from a less important function, like sorting for example, especially if there isn't a sorter.

That should get you started. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

this little desktop pc150, is only worth about 1hr of service/ of time & effort >take the $ 110 and run >after that -it's sell that unused cartridge, and tell customer to buy a new & reliable desktop printer.

we do not even take calls or service these -

Thanks guys. I removed operation cover and pressed print switch manually and it worked . I swapped plastic print-switch actuator and spring from clear key to start key and okay. Frank
