    problems with duplexing on 5020I

Hello , we have a ir-5020I that runs perfectly on one sided printing(no jams), but when we try to run two sided it will run about 200 copies and then continuously jams until we let it cool down.We have had a service contract and two different techs try to fix the problem but they could not fix it.I was wondering if there was something to look for.when it jams there is a paper in the fuser rollers , one on delivery belt, and one in the duplexer.Any help would be appreciated. thanks

      Also what's the meter count.
After a while certain parts should
be replaced if wear has compromised its
      durability and performance.

Have them check the anti-curl roller and bearings. If you pull the duplex drawer out those are the right-most set of rollers. The top one is a small metal rod and the lower is foam. The shaft wears down and/or destroys the bearing causing delay jams. One way to check this is run single sided from only drawer 2, if it has the same jam code after 200 copies or so then it's a safe bet that's your problem.
            Item #25 and #78.

Thanks for the quick reply, I also thought the problem was in the duplex drawer, but we have two of these machines and I swapped the whole drawer out with the other and it still has the same problems. The copier meter count is 1703872 .

Good to know, that eliminates a lot of things and leaves components related to duplex drive.

Since it it related to heat building up have you replaced the duplex drive clutch( FH7-5729-000)?

Have you checked the drive coupling (FB5-3023-000)?

You may also want them to clean or replace the gate solenoid. At least that is what I call it - it controls if the paper goes down into the duplex tray or out the delivery.
