My problem child is still acting up, I have a regional specialist from Canon coming next week some time to share my "joy", with the disappearing mailbox screen.

I will ask this one more time Gerhard,, what resolved the disappearing mailbox names?
I am only interested in that facet of your original problem...

Here is what I am seeing...

I still have not had my visit yet,,, my System Software is currently at 55.xx.xx, I see they released 56.xx.xx yesterday, but have not read the tech pub associated with it to see if this is one of the "fixes".

Contact Canon with your issue, so they can see that this is not a one-of-a-kind problem...

And keep me informed as well, I will do the same for you...

luckily we have not had these issues yet, but I'm sure we will have this fun soon as we have a lot of these units in the field B/W and color.
These units have been nothing but flakey since they were released. I do like them, but the reliability of the device worries me.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

Solution may have to come from Canon JAPAN Regional Office.

From this point on ,your only recourse is to have your CANON REGIONAL SUPPORT PERSON, get their butt over to the account.

are u or do u work for a Canon Authorized Dealer ??
In the past we have had Lawyers call Canon for customers complaints,

I have advised all that are seeing this to contact Canon, so they can see it is not an isolated incident. This was also at the urging of my Canon support guy, as he saw almost nothing about this in the database. Also he mentioned that they do not see anything from different regions of the world, so if people report this , say in the Netherlands, he would not be privy to that information...

have a good weekend all, I'm tired, and I'm out of here.....

Possible solution was applied to my 3 units that were exhibiting this behavior. Yes, 3 now! Two color advance and one b/w advance unit. The thing in common with all 3 is User ID#s are being used, printing to mailboxes, and the kicker, a shortcut to the mailboxes had been implemented.

From the main menu, pressing on the "Access Stored Files" button takes you to an interim screen, where you choose mailbox, advanced box, storage media(USB), and pressing the mailbox button then passes you onto the mailbox display screen. Our sales assistant was eliminating the interim step by turning off advanced box and storage media, thus creating the one step jump to the mailbox, instead of the factory standard 2 step process.

This was discovered by another tech at another dealership. I have turned off this shortcut on my three troublesome machines by re-enabling the media storage button. We have been under test for about 3 weeks now, and I am more hopeful on this being the actual issue, some quirk in the system software, as opposed to being any kind of hardware issue...

Canon has released v60.39.01 V2 system software, and the accompanying tech pub, TP11 128a.pdf, page 4, item #17, claims a fix for field claim of missing numbers and names for boxes when "Access Stored Files" is pressed on machines utilizing the Dept. ID Management function.

This is the scenario that my 3 copiers were running under that were causing me so much grief. I now declare this problem resolved!
