    iR5000 deck1(Right) doesn't lift!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello everyone,

Deck 1 not lifting.Lifter motor doesn't move. Changed pick up unit/assy,lifter motor,Motor driving pcb,DC Controller for deck one( tray 1) just to isolate problem.

Cut tie wraps from dc controller to motor driver, pick up assy.lifter motor. No joy still.....................

    Any other ideas?

    paper lift..

did you check the pins that the paper feed unit plug into..think there is something about a burnt pin with that connector on e-support...other then that have you done a dc con clear??

There's a tab that's located on the top front part of the frame that surrounds the the right paper drawer. That tab will force the white arm that pivots on the drawer to engage the mechanism that causes the lift motor to activate when the drawer closes. Check that the tab is not bent too far up to allow proper actuation. I hope this makes sense. Good luublic ProfileFind More Posts by Mike Clarke

        Mike,

I will greatly appreciate if you will provide us the part numbers of this tab you mentioned. I encountered this problem to our IR 6020s several times and what i normally do is to restart the copier and will comeback to normal lifting and detection on the right paper deck.

        thanks,

I made the mistake once of not noticing that the lift gear on the back of the deck was broken inside. It looked normal, but sure didn't lift. Sometimes it's the little things that are easy to overlook.

I can lift the paper deck manually by hand just fine..also i can manually

actuate the lift actuator on the feed assy and nothing happens. I also have tried

d-con clear..mmi.. still no luck. I think at this point i am going to try

a new wire harness. I will let you know what i find..thanks.....

I had pinched wires going from the DC Power supply to the Motor Driver the kept blowing the fuses on Motor Driver. I've also had a DCC cause this once also.

        Deck Not Lifting

I have seen this happen a few times (even with Ir600) when I was brought in to figure it out. I have replaced the lift motor because it failed to work once. I also had to replace the white arm thats on the drawer it self because it was so worn out. Another time was because the shaft that has the white cam on the paper pick up assembly was bent up (probably from slamming the drawer) and i had one were the pin somehow broke the inside part of the lift gear in the back of the drawer.

The way I found out how to troubleshoot these problems was by removing the drawer out of the machine. Inspect to see any paper behind the drawer. Turn the power off for 10 seconds and powering the unit back on. Lifting up on the cam in front of the paper pick up assembly and checking to see if the lift motor activates. There is so much to explain for each different problems that can occur but keep it simple.

I've been looking but I can't find a part number for that tab. Sorry.

On the iR5000, the decks and cassettes will attempt to lift, if it can't lift it won't. Remove paper that is curled or any other thing stopping or preventing from lifting. The iR5000 must be rebooted to have the deck or cassette raise again. It is like the old NP6030 only attempt to raise once, if it fails...it will not raise again until turn off/on.

The most common cause for the deck not lifting, that I've seen, has been a burnt pin where you connect the pick-up assembly to the machine. Most people pull the connector out without turning the machine off, causing this problem. When you order a pick-up ass'y, you don't get the connector block with it. Take a look at the pins, one or more may be black or possibly even pushed in.

If you remove the paper stock tray and manually move the little white cam you should be able to hear the motor moving. Thats where I would start, if the motor is turning you can forget about signals or power to it. You said you could manually move the paper tray but are you trying with it empty or with a couple of reams of paper, the reason I ask is I have had broken gears on the stock tray need weight to force it to slip.

We brought our 5000 in for shop repair/testing...we discovered that the motor

driver was the cause of the problem.. the first one we replaced was bad

and sent back to repair facility for warranty replacement!..

I think we over teched this one a little...I guess never assume that

a PCB is always repaired/tested properly...

Problem got solved by Changing Lifter Motor & Motor Driver PCB together & not one by one.

Kwazimoto, Thanks for your replies. You r very resourcefull. Thanks again
