[Error Code] Imagepass C2 flashing FF

    Hello,

I need help with my canon ir c3220 with an imagepass C2. When booted up the C2 just starts flashing FF. Have removed battery and restarted many times. A few weeks ago I was having issues with the FF code and I could restart several times and finally get it to work. Now, occasionally it will attempt to work by cycling through the various digits until it gets to 00 then just reverts to the FF flashing (not on steady). The fans come on when the ff lights up but goes off when blank. The open interface board on the 3220 has a red light on. Does this mean it is not detecting the C2. Please advise.

All that I do is remove battery then short the + & - legs together for 30 seconds. Then reinsert battery and poser on. If this does not work then reload system software. If still not working then hard drive and reload.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

I will try the software Monday. Thank You. I have replaced the crossover cable because I thought it acted as if it was possibly faulty. Is it possible the connection on the C2 is bad? I have jiggled the cable and sometimes it attempts to work, maybe it is just coincidence.

READ THIS PDF FIRST/ if u need patch -it is below

        TP07.pdf

Fiery controller that this patch can be applied to:
        imagePASS C2 ver: 1.0
        imagePASS G1
        ver: 1.0
        1-Q3WR9_complete.zip

The FF error code may occur due to one of the following causes:

        1. A power fault (surge, sag, or spike) in the line voltage supplied to the imagePASS may cause a bit in the CMOS to be incorrectly changed. Since data stored in the CMOS is backed-up by a battery, the incorrect bit setting is retained in subsequent power-ups. When the FF error is caused by a power-fault, the error can often be cleared by resetting the CMOS. This can be accomplished by removing the CMOS battery and shorting the positive and negative terminals of the battery holder.

        a. After clearing the FF error, the CMOS battery may be reinstalled. Unfortunately, if the battery is reinstalled, a future power fault could cause the same error to occur again. In order to prevent the FF error from reoccurring, the CMOS battery should be removed permanently. As the CMOS battery is responsible for retaining clock (date and time) information on the imagePASS, a patch (1-Q3WR9) has been created to allow the imagePASS to obtain date and time information from the imageRUNNER that it is currently attached to.

        b. In the future, the motherboard of the imagePASS-C2 and imagePASS-G1 will be modified at the factory in order to prevent the incorrect bit change when a power fault occurs. For imagePASS units with the modified Motherboard, removal of the CMOS battery and applying the 1-Q3WR9 patch will be optional (in those cases where the customer wants the imagePASS to synchronize date and time settings with the imageRUNNER, the patch can be used).

        2. The CPU may not be seated properly on the Motherboard. If the FF error code is caused by an improperly attached CPU, then the CPU must be reinstalled correctly in the CPU socket in order to resolve the error.

Thank You! It does sound like it may be the CPU. Will try this before reloading software on Monday.

I will keep this in mind as well. I do not have access to Canon anymore so I just do what I normally do....

            Thanks.

              Well,

After many hours I have fixed the problem. The power supply in the imagepass was faulty. Ordered a new one, installed and twala!

              Thank everyone for the help!
