Re: Canon PC 745 paper feed problem
I would like to thank everyone that has posted their comments on this topic. I found this forum when my Canon PC745 copier would not feed paper. At first I had no idea what the problem could be, but did know that an answer to any question could be found on the internet. So I goggled "PC745 forum" and this particular thread on this forum was returned. I read through all of the questions and comments and took another look at my machine and realized that the dangling spring attached to the ratcheting drive gear was my problem too. So after not seeing any likely post or connection for the end of the spring I decided to drill a hole and insert a screw and nut into the adjacent frame. After having done that I realized (because of big fingers) that there is no way to attached the spring to the screw that was protruding through the plastic frame. After already having drilled this hole I simply took a different spring (just in case I need the original later) and cut to length and bent the ends so that I could easily hook one end into the hole and then using a spring hook I stretched the other end up over the metal tab.
Total time from drilling to making copies was about 30 minutes.
Again thanks to all.
