[CQ] CLC3220 - Magenta background reappearing -3 drums in a row!

Hello, we've got a Canon CLC3220 problem that I can't get my head round.

The problem starts during a run where a magenta background gradually gets darker. The first time this happened, the drum life was on 110 (we normally get about 200-250 out of one). I swapped over a new drum, it worked fine, problem cured. Then it happened again on drum life 40! I swapped a drum from another 3220 (drum life @100) and it had the problem from the first copy.

The question is, have we just been unlucky in getting 3 bad drums in a row, or could this indicate something more serious? Any tips or suggestions would be most welcome.

    Other notes:
    - We only use genuine Canon toner and parts
    - We only print office-y stuff; nothing really heavy
    - We do regular Autograds & Calibrations

    Kind Regards,

    Michael

you can adjust in service mode if a drum starts ot overtone a little and not sacrifice image quality a whole lot. You could be looking at an HVT issue as well if you keep having these reoccuring issues with the magenta drums backgrounding to early

I'll work on getting a scan. It's a mostly even magenta background, that starts off very faint and gradually gets stronger during a run. It is stronger at the top and bottom parts of the sheet, with the middle being lighter, or even white. One thing to note is that it is edge to edge; so there aren't any of the normal white margins. There are no solid areas and no lines or dots anywhere. At it's strongest it turns the sheet a pastelly pink, so it never becomes solid.

that is normal when the drum unit starts to overtone and the winter time is harder on these units than the summer is. If your office is dry and hot your machine is going to struggle. Ideal operating range is around 68 - 72 degrees with 30% humidity.

Make sure your software is upto date. Also these drums don't work well after being removed from the printer so I would discount the third drum if you got it off site.

I believe u have a Magenta toner supply issue or a Grounding issue
              any M error codes ??

Check to see if the Thrust Pin (FF6-2099-000 # 31) and Compression Spring (FS7-2826-000 #35) are making good contact with the Drum Grounding Plate. The spring can shift causing poor contact between the Drum Unit and Drum Unit Cover assembly.

This Background issue can happen with any color
              / with poor contact

              or>>>>
Pop a new Fuse Pcb in/ as u know this Fuse pcb can cause weird issues/ won't hurt they are cheap

do u see the M Background all over the PG10/ on the other colors y-c-bk ???

It's a HVT issue, not enough primary charge on M drum. U could try to reseat the HVT connectors if replacing is a problem.

HVT would effect it from the start /not between 40>100 pct %
also it would cause Bias issue/ light to no M Color
