Canon IR c5800 error code e000003-0042 HELP

This error code popped up this morning and will not allow us to use the machine. Any ideas?

We have done the normal on/off switch as well as unplugging the machine.

i was able to enter service mode and clear the error. All seems to be ok for now. Should I adjust my temp setting for the fuser? Could the thermistor be going out?

If you want to take a chance and get into it you can clean off the thermistor, there might be toner buildup on it, also bending the thermistor up or down whether you need it to get hotter or cooler is a viable option. Your best bet is to just change them out, they are fairly inexpensive. Another thing that causes this is your electrical outlet, is it on a dedicated outlet, and you have this problem only in the morning when you go to turn on all of your office equipment, and computers. is there a portable heater plugged in somewhere in the office? That will suck enough juice to give your copier all kinds of weird problems also.

There is a known problem with the fixing\feeder frame drawer connector at the rear of the transport.Canon has a repair kit for it..you can grease the screw shafts to prevent the connector from sticking when the drawer is closed. Flat spots on the upper fuser roller can cause this fault along with many other fuser related problems..these upper fuser rolls are notorious for going flat

The flat spot problem usually causes a different error. It's either an E014 or E019 error. Not sure, can't remember which. Flat spots and dirt, if not fully repaired, (Pressure Roller, Supply Roller and Bearings) can cause other strange problems though, so you may be right Canuck.

If you can get into service mode, check your error history. These units will through the whole gambit from E001-E006 and each code will take turns. My advice on these anymore, is to check everything. The connectors as one of the previous posters as mentioned, we have just started replacing the connector in the rear of the Fixing Unit. However, check the lower one's also for paper or damage. Number one cause of these errors is the flat spots on the Upper Fixing Roller. Slide out that be and open the deliver doors and turn the rollers with the green knob. If you see any weird movement, or if you feel resistance and all of sudden the knob just slips from your hand and the roller rotates, you got flat spots. Usually you hear thumping as the machine is running. Any more I just swap those rollers right off the bat. Also, remeber that this Fixing Unit has (3) Rollers with thermisitors on them. And guess what, your -0042 sub code points to the thermisitors for the Outer/External, or Top Fixing Roller. This is the grey metal one at the top that usually doesn't need to be swapped, but you will find quite a mess up in that area. My suggestion would be to swap all three Thermisitors assy. and the Fixing Rollers. However, I am learning new things about these machines every day. I had a damaged Front Door (actuator portion) that caused a E006 during boot up. Go figure! Good luck sir, and post your results.

E003-042 is outside heating roll under temp..cheat the front interlock and see if heater for outside roller comes on...or monitor in service mode(display>analog)if heater comes on clean the outside roller and its thermistors..the outside roller on these machines get a coating on them..kinda like wax...it gets on all fuser thermistors and thermal fuses

That's silicon oil residue. It can be found on any copier that uses an oil roller, felt, or web.

fyi blackcat....its not silicon residue...i work on all canon clcs,black and whites,xerox...all with webs and fuser oils/lubes...none of them have this type of residue,only irc5800/6800...ask any canon tech who works on them regularly...unique really..poorly engineered machine...imagepress C1 is built on same frame...scary
