canon imagerunner 5000 finisher problem trays lower, don't go up

Client has an iR5000 with standard staple/hole punch finisher, 2 tray. Trays lower down and click and won't come back up. Is there a lower sensor that goes bad on these?

    Thanks

the sensor does not normally go bad, but the actuator might not be sitting correctly to block the sensor.
Take the caps off and look down with a flashlight to check.
A foolproof adjustment , is to take the tray assembly out completely, re-insert it slightly angled to the rear.
