[CQ] counter and serial number of ir machines

Hi,
As we all know we can not replace a machines counter pcb by another one , but we can replace the main controller . The question is where the coresponding serial no of the machine is registered??

So I guess you're stuck with the old serial number, is it not working for you?

maybe you get me wrong , let me ask the question another way . What is the electrical part "PCB" that does not allow the presrence of another counter PCB(an old one that belongs to another machine fror ex.)
