Canon keeps jamming paper. Please help!

My canon 3170i keeps jamming paper on the first print. The paper gets stuck in the middle section in the side door. Any help is greatly appreciated.

First check the drawer dials and make sure they are set right.

I found it. It looks like "fixing unit". Not sure if it is the right term. Yellow block in the middle of the machine when you open right side. The cover (with rollers, the one you pull back) on the unit is literally fried and cracked. What causes something like this? Where can i get this part?

You can get it from an authorized Canon dealer, he'll even install it for you. To find one, just pick up the phone and dial 411.

The count for the fixing unit is 18464.

Same for the upper frame.

If is supposed to last, can the part be defective?

if it looks cracked and fried then it might need to be replaced. Some parts were revised on the fuser unit because of bad fit. Rebuilt or new units with the updated parts will last.

the 3170 is an old copier now. Lows of warm up cycles for low usage could have caused an early death of the fuser unit. Updates to the firmware may have not been done either. Call a tech or throw it away.

Not sure why anybody would throw away a copier that has only 18k prints on it. Would you throw away a car that has 18k miles on it?

if a part is guaranteed to last, would not canon be responsible for replacing it?

Part No 62 - FL2-0167-000 is cracked and burned. Does it happen on a regular basis? Any other parts I should be watching out for? Thank you for all your help

If my car was a Pinto or Yugo, I would throw it away.
A 3170 is worse thana Pinto and Yugo put together.
Those of us who have to fix them, have no joy in doing so.

Well FL2-0167-000 has to be replaced for sure. It actually is broken. And this is where the paper gets jammed. Anyone has this part? please see pics

Yugo was my first car 16 years ago.Good car and good memories.

This comes with the fixing unit, you really need to call a tech & get a propper assement on the machine.

Is it possible to get this part without the fixing unit?
