    Why is my copier steaming?

I was printing a few pages and as I got them out noticed the "ceiling" above the output tray and under the scanner on my MF8350Cdn was wet, is it possible the paper might be humid and the fuser is evaporating it out as steam?

It's printing fine other than the "ceiling" of the output tray getting wet.

      Nope !

It is your refilled ink which is evaporating

Agree, this is basic knowledge. Everyone who's working with laserprinters should know this.

So was it just my paper that was humid? I have a hard time imagining so much water cumming out of the few sheets I printed. Or is it just a reaction between the heat of the machine and the cool AC'ed air causing condensation?

If you know anything about printing then you know that airconditioners and heaters should never be placed next to printers.

I had been using exclusively inkjet until last year due to the infinitely lower cost per page. I run a printing business and decided to offer laser printing and since I offer it less than 5% of orders have chosen to pay the enormous surcharge (at the very least double the price) for laser prints.

I knew almost no one would want to pay extra for laser but I got it anyway as there's a book I print that can really benefit from being 100% water proof so I use it for printing that book.

In the interest of avoiding a 5 or 6 page thread on this subject, the simple answer is that moisture is forced out of the paper by the fuser, and condensing on the cooler areas outside of the fuser. That is concisely what is occurring.

                          The end.

That was my main theory, is it bad for the printer? Should I keep the AC on to keep the humidity low and avoid this?

Yes,, the humidity in the room needs to be lowered, the paper needs to be stored in a dry place. I only see this in summer in offices, that while the offices are fairly cool, still have higher humidity. The moisture that is occurring in the copier has no way to evaporate if the relative humidity in the room is too high...
