Hello George, we asked you to hook an analog phone up to the phone line, instead of the copier.

    Did you do that?

Could you originate a phone call from that phone on that phone line?

You have to test that phone line first with a phone before this discussion can go any further.

It was my understanding from the quoted message above, that you had indeed substituted a phone on that phone line, and was unable to make a call. If that information is accurate, then all of us have already answered your question. If you cannot make a phone call, from the analog phone, on the phone line in question,,, then you have a phone line issue.

Resolve the phone line issue before worrying about the fax working on this copier...

George, you're being somewhat inconsistent in your answers.

To me, this means that you are fibbing as to what you have or haven't done, or you're pretending to know more about phone lines and faxes than you do in reality. Neither one of these will help you solve your problem, so back up to the beginning of the thread and retrace your steps to see where you have gone wrong. That what I do in this situation. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

What happens when you plug in a plain old analog telephone? Can you dial now? Do you need a prefix? Is the phone line plugged into the handset jack? =^..^= "

i thought that he needed me to plug in my machine in another regular phone line and test it, and that was what i did, the result was negative, i can not dial from this machine from any other phone line.

please le me assure to you all in very clear way.
i can not dial from this machine plugged in any phone line i tested it. i get continuous voice tone just after i hit the button of the first digit of the destination fax number.
        good luck guys.

        Thanx All

So George, did you connect an analog phone to the phone line? Did you try to dial out?

              1-Buy a new machine or
              2-Borrow one to test or
3-Have a Company come over to Demo one on site.

then u will know what your situation holds for the future

I sent it to local canon service center. they reset factory default then back to normal.
after one week later same problem again and sent back to service center, they reset it again.
                now 3 - 4 times already. *
they selfish,. they don't show me how to reset factory default. I can not find way to reset in manual book *too.

Has anyone answered this question??? I can't for the life of me figure out how to reset this thing and it's ridiculous. Constantly reports wrong paper size, prints everything twice, I can only scan on remote scanner. I have just installed this from a different PC so obviously these things are all in the printer settings. PLEASE someone tell me how to factory reset!!! PRETTY PLEASE?
