    iRC4580 feeder jamming

iRC4580 has issues related to the ADF. All originals get jammed at the sensor P11 (the last sensor before the exit). Jam code is 0001 (stat. jam). Tried to swap feeder with working one, but no luck. What to do next, any suggestions? I'm going back to the customer tomorrow and I think I'll start by clearing the DC-con.

    Thanks for help!

Have you tried a sensor initialization, service mode > feeder > function sens init

No I haven't. Better try that before DC-con clear.
Is this common issue? I'm asking this since nobody in our company hasn't seen this issue before. And not all of our technicians are newbies like I am (only 3 years of experience)

Still experiencing same issues after these steps:

        -ADF sensor init.
        -SW Update to newest version
        -DC con clear

Now I'm thinking that the scanner itself might be faulty. Any ideas?

u swapped the DF with a working one/ and have the same jam code ???

what model feeder do u have ??

          (PI1 sensor is registration sensor)

are u checking the correct screen in service mode for DF Jam codes ??????

          Color Image Reader for CiRC5180/4580/4080(DADF)
          Jam Code (ADF)

The post separation sensor does not detect paper even when paper has been fed 452 mm after
          the start of separation.

          0001 post-separation sensor PCB PCB2
The post-separation sensor does not detect paper when paper has been moved 452 mm after the
          start of separation

0001=Jam Code: Shutter lever of feeder clutch of DADF-M1 fails to function normally

          Description
Since the shutter lever of the feeder clutch used inside the DADF-M1 failed to function normally, the document shutter failed to come down after a document was fed, ultimately causing the jam code "0001."

          - 0001 Jam Code can be displayed when the separation rear sensor (PI7) does not detect a document even though the document has been fed by 452mm since
          start of separation.

          1. Check to see if the document shutter goes to the bottom position when the pick-up roller comes down.
          2. If the document shutter does not go to the bottom position, suspect a fault in the shutter lever, and replace it with a new one.
          Reference: Shutter operation mechanism
          DF.JPG
STEP1: In synchronization with the rotation of the shaft, the one-way clutch [1] rotates in the direction of the arrow [A].
STEP2: The rotation of the one-way clutch [1] causes friction between the spring clutch [2] and the shutter lever [3], letting the lever [3] move in the direction of the arrow [C].
Note: The spring clutch in the photo is extended for easy understanding of its structure.
STEP3: The shutter lever [3] moves in the direction of [C], and then pushes down the document shutter.
STEP4: When the document shutter reaches the bottom position, the shutter lever [3] rotates in the direction of the arrow [B] and the tension of the spring clutch [2] is released; thus transmission of torque to the shutter level is stopped. FC5-3166 Shutter Lever

Yes, I've replaced the feeder with a working one. But the problem stays. So the issue can't be at the feeder itself. I'm suspecting that the scanner unit is defected.

The machine is at our office now; I'll inspect it better tomorrow.

The feeder is the "normal model", not the duplex one.

              swap the reader controller/

or inspect the internal connector on reader side--- where plug from DF goes into Reader

                Re: iRC4580 feeder jamming

Sorry about the delay for answer; I've been quite busy with other things.

DF and scanner connectors and the reader controller are checked and they're working.
Situation is getting worse, now the DF doesn't pull paper at all. We brought another machine to the customer, so he's still happy though

Next step to take is exchanging the whole engine's power supply assembly. There has been one similar situation in another town, where the problem was solved with new PSU's.
