Canon IRC2620 Connection to Network "cross cable"

    Hi,

It is possible to connect a Canon Copier directly to a computer using the RJ45 cable or network connection cable without connecting the machine through a router or switch.
I want to try this, machine is having a "waiting to print" massage and I want to know how to connect it to my laptop to dismiss any network hardware failure.
It is a simple office router, the machine have a assigned valid IP address, it have the UFR print driver into a XP-32 bit PC. I want to connect the machine into a 64-bit Win 7 laptop.

    If is possible!!!

Any help will be really appreciated.

I don't see why not. That's an excellent way to rule out network communication issues.

Just note the static address of the MFP; i.e. 192.168.1.200
On your laptop set a static address in the same IP range (change only the last octet); i.e. 192.168.1.210
    Connect your crossover cable.
Ping the printer's address to confirm connection.
    Load a print driver.

    That's it.

I can often skip the last step since I have 75 or more print drivers loaded to the laptop. I just select a new port in the print driver.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks a lot for your comment.
I will perform this as soon as I can.

I notice that the machine gave me this massage "PDL process error", I saw that the PDL information is stored in the HDD of the equipment, if is possible that this data is corrupted or missing?

      Thanks in advance.

It could be either corrupt print data or a print controller problem. This is the way to sort it out.

My bet is on corrupt print data. The first step is to re-load the driver. =^..^=

Well I notice that I perform a HDD format where the PDL data was stored in the HDD, the procedure indicate a re-load.
One big problem: I don't know how to re-install the PDL data. I don't know if I need the service program for this machine.
As a recommendation from a post I perform the step # 3 without reading carefully about the procedure.
This information below comes from a IRC 3200 service manual machine.

I do the procedure due a "waiting to print massage", I realize that the error massage "PLD error" comes after HDD formarting. What a mess!!!!

Caution The following must be kept in mind and the user must be properly informeded
of the fact when using CHECK-TYPE:
0: entire HDD → no operation occurs (to initialize, use the SST)
1: image storage area → removes image data
2: general-purpose file area (user settings data, various log data, PDL spool
data, image data control information) → initializes files
3: PDL-related file storage area → removes font data, requiring re-installation.

          What I can do?

This is the point where I must defer to someone with more recent Canon printing experience. I've taken you as far as I can. =^..^=

Re: Canon IRC2620 Connection to Network "cross cable"

are you sure that your machine even has print capability installed into it?

You need to get into service mode and check your boot rom version. It it is a 'C' then you are just wasting your time trying to connect it to print and firmware will not help you.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
