1.Copyboard Glass, Reading Glass, and Back of the Copyboard Cover (retainer)
Open the copyboard cover, and wipe the parts with a cloth moistened with water (well
wrung); then, wipe them with a soft, dry cloth.
2.Contact Sensor
Remove the 2 screws, and detach the copyboard glass; then, remove any dirt from the lens
array of the contact sensor with a soft, dry cloth.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

I cant remember which But I think the reader board was replaced in some for poor copies. if you had light prints I would blame dev unit or drum but since your prints are good you should also check copy off the glass and check doc feed adjumnet.
I had almost a similar scenario that on prints from via the pc the prints were fine but on copying the copies were generally light.I opened the laser unit cleaned its optics and the copies were so fine.You could give it a try,good luck!
