Re: What have been some of your challenges with SMB scanning to a windows 7 computer
Try going into network and sharing center and go to advanced sharing and turn off password protected sharing. It should then let you browse into the folder. After browsing to the folder it shoud let you scan to the folder. Host Search should also get you to the folder. but password protection has to be turned off.

I understand Win 7 has some issues scanning. Sometimes you have to scan to the Public folder. Make sure you use a user name and password, too. Canon's like passwords on Win 7. Oh, when you right click the folder, check the sharing settings. There are two locations to set sharing. Hope that helps!
Is that everything ??
We had to scan to XP because something wasnt right on the win 7 machine. It simply would not accept a scan error code #751

Re: What have been some of your challenges with SMB scanning to a windows 7 computer
It wasnt a password issue at the location. Could be called a whole brand new setup! The note about having to adjust the registry for security rights on a folder is intresting and even more intresting is that the poster here didnt give an example and mentioned many other ways to hack it on a google search! WTHell ? ? nmfanman, what did you mean?
I have not run a SMB windows 7 google search yet.Leave a comment:

I'm so glad my company charges for this. We setup it up once, warn about the passwords, show how to change, etc.Leave a comment:

Now that Blackcat mentioned passwords.
In a client server environment the at one of my accounts, the IT D$*k has them change passwords monthly.
SMB stops and they blame the copier. I have to come in again and show them how to change the password because they forgot how.
The worst is when customers scan a huge color file to folder then try to email it as an attachment, it won't send. Max is 20MB
They think it is my fault because the scan came from my machine and IT D&*k points the finger @ me.
Scan to folder is for archive purposes only because of file size.
Scan to email is for communication because it will split the attachment to assure successful transmission.Leave a comment:

1) Getting the endusers to remember their own username and password.
Me: How did you log in this morning?
Enduser: I don't know ...
Me: (banging head against nearest wall)

None anymore.
I found a registry change to allow older machines to work without loss of security.
I googled SMB windows 7 and read all the solutions until I found the right one.Leave a comment:

This was problematic for us on a win 7 64 machine. Had to send over to an XP computer. I have reviewed the knowledge base and there are issues. I thought I would add this post for anyone who would like to contribute.
