    [Misc] ir3570 ethernet connectivity

    Hi all,

I am new here so let me start by saying HI! I have an ir3570 that I recently bought used for a youth group my kids are involved in. I want to connect it to the network so we can print, scan to and from a file server. My dilemma is that the copier is not connecting to the network. I have connected to the network, have a static IP set but the Ethernet port in the copier is dead. I know all the cabling and port on the Ethernet switch is good because I can connect it to the laptop without any problem. Is there something in the software / setting I can check? Perhaps an option that is not turned on, or is the NIC in the copier dead?

I almost forgot to mention that the only thing the copier itself shows is "check TCP/IP connection"

Thanks in advance for the help.

Are you sure the copier has a print kit installed? Press counter check and check configuration. Without the kit, its only a copier

Thanks for the reply. I did connect directly to the unit and got no link light. I tried a straight and crossover cable.

I checked the Device Configuration and on the second page it is as follows:

          PCI: blank
          Option 1: Finisher-S1
Option 2: Cassette feeding unit Y2
          Software Option 1: Netware
Software Option 2: Universal send kit

Would the netware option be the print kit? If not is it something I can add?

          Thanks for the help.

Doesn't sound like you have a print kit installed. You may be able to find a used one online but it needs to be installed. Not difficult but not intended for end users either.

One last question. Shouldn't I still get a link light and be able to connect to the network, especially because the unit has the universal send kit? Also I pulled the back cover and found a Boot ROM board plugged in to the main board (appears to be the Multi PDL Printer Kit-E1). I am thinking the main board to be in trouble since the ethernet has no link and the E1 board does not show up. What are your thoughts?

BTW I did not mention before that I am a telecommunications engineer.

                Thanks again

Universal Send Kit-B1 is only activated thru a LMS License activation.( SEND Tab will be displayed )

The optional Multi-PDL Printer Kit is no longer necessary to use the Network Scan function. This is also reflected on the Basic Features screen, where the [Scan] tab is displayed even if the optional Multi-PDL Printer Kit is not installed. [Scan] is no longer displayed only when the optional Multi-PDL Printer Kit is installed.
                  NOTE-
[Auto Offline/Online] in System Settings (from the Additional Functions screen) is now displayed even if the optional Multi-PDL Printer Kit is not installed.

Teckat gave you very detailed instructions which will be very helpful. You can also go into service mode/copier/version and check boot version. Version number should be followed by N

                      Hi,

You might be having 2 issues here:

Firstly, you will need to confirm is whether the machine has a Print option installed.

                      Secondly, it the network connectivity.

From your description of the above message on machine Panel, is any of these option enable:

                      "DHCP"

                      "BOOTP"

                      "RARP"

This setting is at screen where input a static IP address / Subnet Mask / Gateway IP, (3 squares on left side). Make sure it not coloured and reboot the machine.

Once machine is back on line, you ought to be able to ping IP address of machine and also perform Universal Send to your relevant features (emails ; Shared folder)

I checked a 3570 today. The counter check screen won't give you printer kit info. Go to service mode version to see if you have an "N" bootrom. If you have usend, you probably do but it may have been removed and replaced with a "C" boot before it got to you.
