    Canon IPF 8300S Hardware error

    Hi

i am having a problem with my Canon IPF 8300S printer . It all started with a replace printer head (left) message . I placed the call with the dealer and they sent a tech who interchanged the heads .After that I am getting a message " hardware error"

So far I have replaced carriage assy pcb and both the printer heads .

Even the dealer is stumped on this and he is just saying w'll try replacing Main controller pcb QM3-3203-0110. Ad even he is not sure if the problem will be solved .Any inputs on how to proceed on this one cause I dont want to spend a lot of money and pray I get lucky . Also FYI the tech tried to do a firmware update ver 1.07 that too failed.

    Thanks

Re: Canon IPF 8300S Hardware error

I can not forget my case on this model. After replacing controller i turn on the printer without covers and accidentally drop the screwdriver on the new board and make disaster. Anyway......

    1. Start up the printer with the service mode and clear error.

    2.Replace the head relay PCB.
    3.Replace the carriage relay PCB.
    4.Replace the engine controller.
    5.Replace the system controller.

Do not replace the system controller and engine controller at the same time.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Would be too much to ask for the "hardware error" number ?

Re: Canon IPF 8300S Hardware error

why did you replace carriage assy pcb ???

Why did you replace both printheads ???

          Check carriage lubrication (movement) first.

Can you turn it on to Online State ?

When is the error happening - during first pass of printing ?

          Try to be more specific...

Re: Canon IPF 8300S Hardware error

When you turn the printer on - does the carriage make the standard movement left-right ?

When you enter service mode - can you get to online state ?

If you can enter sm - try to get some of the error codes stored in memory.

Ask the customer about the problem. Did it just pop up or it was related to smth else.

Generally 2F26 has no relation with Print Head status.

Put your finger on the iron shaft (which holds the carriage) and slide it over. Do you see dirt or some kind of grease-ish ?

Paul its nice to know that you still remember me. At the moment I dont require anything cause I dont plan to intend to service this machine on my own . Its only when the tech's(Canon trained)goofed up that I am trying to fix this .

I have enough machines on my hand to take up most of my time. Thanks for the offer

Why do I have the feeling that you are slightly irritated ???

Anyway: Go to the printer and do this:

While the printer off: remove the heads manually.

First ) turn the printer on in user mode = report back what happens
Second ) turn the printer on is service mode = report back what happens

After that put back the print heads.

It looks like you have 2 different serials.

Did you replace main controller PCB or MTC Relay PCB and DID NOT PERFORM the replacement routine?

                              if yes - than:

                              1) Turn off the power and disconnect the power plug.
                              2) Replace the main controller PCB.
                              3) Reconnect the power plug and turn on the power while pressing the [Paper Source] and [Information] keys. (Start the printer in PCB replacement mode.)
                              4) Release the key, but not before making sure that "Initializing" appears on the display. (The message lamp lights when printer enters PCB replacement mode.)
                              5) Wait until "REPLACE MODE" appears on the display.
                              6) Select CPU BOARD and press the [OK] key.
                              7) Turn off the power, but not before making sure that "Power off" appears on the display.
                              8) Turn on the power.

After you do this procedure - go back one post and report what I asked previously.
