Can you get to Online State ?
Can you enter Service Mode and get to Online State?
Yes - in Service mode can get to ONLINE state. But if I try to Print - says printing - but does nothing. If I try to replace left print head - it then will tell me error and try to replace left print head. If I check HEAD INFO - says all nulls. If I check DISPLAY HEAD under SERVICE - it has S/N and Lot #.
When it says printing nothing moves. No - I can not get to Online State in user mode - I get replace Left Print Head Error. I will get you the error number and Nozzle Check answer when I am in front of the printer later today - Thanks

Please answer all my questions: Can you get it online state in user mode ?
If not - what is the error ?
The error is 280B. In service mode I can do a nozzle check in the service menu under FUNCTION sub menu. I can't print a nozzle check under the MAINTENANCE sub menu. It just says printing - no carriage movement. I'm getting real close to just buying a new head. The weird thing is that the 280B is an eeprom error - but in the DISPLAY submenu it has the S/N and LOT # but under MAINTENANCE submenu it is all nulls.
Through L-Printer tool force a firmware flash. It can be the same version - it doesn't matter.
What matters is : if there is a problem during flashing it would mean a problem in the main board.
On the other hand if flashing goes fine - it is a good sign that mainboard is ok. (not necessarily but a good sign).
If flashing goes ok - than go ahead and buy the head. You cannot avoid the head purchase.
When you will be ready to put the printhead - do it under user mode.
I recently ran into similar trouble with an IPF 8100 and are stuck as to what to do next...
What happened:
- Printer went offline with error message E161-403E (right printhead overheating detected, replace printhead)
- I started in SM and did a head reset to 'emulate' a new printhead (I have a printhead resetter for the PF-03)
- The printer actually worked for a moment, it started to charge the head with ink and then went into a 03130031-2F14 stall (main pcb defective, restart and try again)
- I did what I was told, re-started the printer and the old printhead error message E161-403E was back in the game (though no sign of a pcb error message)
- So I actually bought a new print head and installed it on the right side, unfortunately though that didn't solve the issue, when I closed the lid, I was able to hear the head going left/right and then an error message popped up asking me to change the right print head.
I did a desperate move and tried the left head (after a reset of the head with the resetter) on the right side and the old right one on the left side, the same error message (right printhead) came up, when I swapped them back, the same right printhead message still came up, so I am now at a point where I think it is not the ph at all (as the new one did not work and the error stays on the right side even after resetting / swapping the old ones).
Any idea what to do next? Shall I try a firmware flash, any chance that might help - the printer is on 1.36 and it seems the current one is 1.42? Or do the error messages point to an actual defect with the head PCB, flex cable or main pcb?
