Canon IR 6000 JAMS AT FUSER:

Today I removed the top fuser station from the machine and changed out the upper fuser heat roller at my work bench.
Also replaced the right hand slider rail that the unit slides in and out on. It was broken.
Put it all back together and now the machine jams just as the paper begins to hit the fuser rollers. Doesn't matter which bin I feed from.
No codes showing up. Just regular "Open Right side door, open main door, clear jam" message.
I hand wind paper thru the fuser rollers via the green turning knob to clear the jam and start again. Same thing keeps happening.
Did I knock something out of position? or a Sensor? or a motor?
    Lil' help...
    Thank you for your attention.

Why did you change the upper fuser roller/

What was the problem before this?

Did you mess around with inlet guide.

I remember in the past there a was gear towards the rear of the fixing feeder assy that gets damage causing jams entering into the fuser assy.
The gear also has a belt. Been a long time since I messed around with this series.

There will ALWAYS be a Jam Code recorded, ADDIT FNC > 2 + 8 > ADDIT FNC > COPIER > DISPLAY > JAM. Then POST the result.
I will ask the same questions as SCREWTAPE - why did you replace the Fixing Roller?

If the Fixing Unit was DISMANTLED incorrectly, then it was probably REASSEMBLED incorrectly, eg. the Heat Shield Timing may be out plus more.

          Timing might be the issue.

I replaced the upper fuse roller because the surface was wearing off and copy quality was deteriorating. (dark streaks)
It was a non-OEM, cheap, black roller. I installed the OEM orange roller. Much better.

I will check for jam codes and get back to you.

Other symptom I'm getting is grinding noise at Toner hopper.
I will remove, clean and lube that today.
Only other thing I found while investigating was a disconnected spring lying at the bottom of the machine toward the back.
About a half inch long with a round loop on each end. Couldn't find where it migh have come from.

            OK then...
            I went to Service mode.
            Selected COPIER:

            Sreen Flashing:
            *FEEDER* 1/1 <WTNR-FUL>
            FEEDSIZE-----

No adjustment or other functions available.

I also checked the gears with the belts on the back side of the fixing unit.
            They appear to be fine.

These fixing units are driven by a stepper motor located at the front on the fixing assy, check for correct reassembly and check the gears on the motor + gear on fixing roller.

From the description you provided for the spring, I suspect it's from the lower baffle on the duplex tray.
Located on the left side under the tray.

                Dear all,

                - Are the fixing rollers correctly driven by the fixing motor ?
                - Is the fixing inlet guide well positioned ?
                - For the jam code: Service mode > Copier > Display > Jam.

I have pulled up 50 recorded jam codes!

                  Code 1 is: 0321 1258 1300 0 0202 1 515220 LRT
                  code 50 is: 0212 1238 1240 0 0202 3 530909 LTR R

                  What do these numbers mean???

You went into feeder not copier. *28* copier > display > jam. Tell us that jam we'll tell you how to fix it. Shutter being out of place will give you an ecode not a jam. chances are the brown gear's cracked or the black gear has cracked.

So if jam code 0202 (PS28) is consistant throughout the 50 jam codes displayed what next?
I have ordered a clutch motor at the back of the fuser unit hoping that fixes things.

In the meantime, listed below are other items another tech said I need.
I don't know where these items are.
Are they related to feed problems?
