    IR3220 Jamming

Jam codes 0101 and 0105. Lower tray only. If paper does get thru you can hear it crunching. Otherwise it may get up into the machine slightly and z fold. However if I apply a little pressure to the lower door it goes thru without any problems. Changed lower pfu. Door was changed 4 months ago. Looked for door updates similar to xx70 machines but found none. Anybody know of any? Wondering if maybe the upper pfu is at fault but upper tray runs flawlessly.

    Funny thing is if
the registration flag (FB6-3399-000) on tray 1 paper pick-up assembly is worn down enough it will cause the jams. >from tray 2

Yes as teckat said, but you can swap the two cassette feed units around as a test, they are the same (just swap the brackets) if it works fit a new unit or a new flag next visit.

What i've done before is superglued a very tiny amount of plastic on to the end of the sensor, this sorted my problem without having to replace the whole thing... Of course it was just to get the customers machine working until i could get the proper part.
Have you tried turning it off and on? No...Oh, it works now!

I usually just heat it up a little bit with a lighter and squeeze a little too the tip of the sensor and it stretches enough to work

specially when you live far from canon warehouses and have to wait week and a half to two for a part (when available), or in older models with discontinued parts,

                  This my weapon of choice:

But i don;t see how this would help repairing the flag, i had those in stock, otherwise swap it with the no4 cassette.

Pfu switch no good. Gonna try another lower door. Seems to be just 0101 codes now

On the ir3220 the black plastic post that the door hook latches onto usually breaks off. This causes one side of the door to stick out just a tiny bit. Not enough pressure on the rollers. Since you stated that when you pushed on the door it worked, this is probably the cause. You can interchange the upper and lower pickup units. It should work fine after that, unless it's broken on that one too.

PFU's and door replaced. Still jams. Apply a little pressure to the door and it works fine. So I grabbed the door on the sides, put my knee in the middle of the door and created my own pressure. So far it's working. Too bad there wasn't some kind of update like the xx70 series.

so both the sensor flags had the updated metal cover

one thing to remember ---it's the upper (tray 1 )flag that determines the 01xx delay jams/

?? did u replace the entire RIGHT DOOR ASSEMBLY(w/rollers/springs etc.)-FG6-9019-000
or just the Door PANEL -FB6-3503-000 ??
