    hi there,

    The developer concentration
    target value is faulty (set when a
    new drum is fitted; the value is
    extremely small).
    The fault occurs when an image is being
    formed. It is detected when toner supply
    operation is started.

    04 = Black

    that is the manual description mate.

                Yea is as straight forward as you will find.Put the drum in and the machine will do a color calibration by itself...or auto gradation in Canon speak.

                  Black Drum Replaced - Image is off however

                  I replaced the black drum, piece of cake doing that. The problem I have now is that when I print, all of the colors appear to be offset. For example if I print a letter G, i get a black g, then a blue g a bit to the right of the black one, then a magenta g to the right of the blue and finally a yellow one to the right of the magenta. Hope my description makes sense. Many thanks again for your help.

                        ITB Unit and Salt Sensor

                        Thanks for the info guys. Can you tell me where the ITB unit is and where the Salt sensor is? I don't have a service manual. Is there anywhere online to download a service manual?
                        Thanks again for all the info.

                          dear SLAMISguy

                          look at right side of m/c press the grey button remove the carraige and u will see the ITb(intermediate transfer belt) remove it. before removing it , release the itb by pulling the lever which is back side of front cover. salt sensor is located above the itb.

                              Replacing the bk drum will correct this problem.
