Where does the spring that is behind the developing assembly attach? I have heard it referred to as a tension spring or pressure spring - it keeps the developing assembly snug up against the drum unit when the locking lever is in place. I downloaded the service manual, but the spring is not mentioned. It is hanging loose in the C130 I'm trying to repair - the top part was attached at one time, so I know where that end goes, but the bottom of the spring -? I tried attaching it one place by the gearbox to the left of where it's hanging, but that didn't work, and I can't figure out where it should attach. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Canon C130/NP6512 Series problem
There used to be a black plastic post on the rear frame to attach the spring to:
Light copies at the rear, and possible clicking noise. The developer shift rear return spring comes unhooked, when the post on the rear of the blanking assembly shears off. Remove the composite power supply, main drive motor, and backing plate. Drill a 3mm starter hole at the original post location and install a 4mm x 10mm plastic thread screw to hook the spring onto.
=^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

This is perfect. It comes out stronger than the old post. I probably did 50 of these. Just eats a little time. There used to be a black plastic post on the rear frame to attach the spring to:

Re: Canon C130/NP6512 Series problem
I should have mentioned: Be very careful handling the composite power supply! There are various cut-outs and weak areas that can crack easily. Be very gentle and don't force anything. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

Re: Canon C130/NP6512 Series problem
I was in Albequerque (did I spell that right?) in 2000 for a bowling tournament. Friends of mine from here in NJ looked on the map and saw Las Vegas was only 115 miles so they took the drive. Not the casino town they were looking for.Comment
