Re: canon 8295
Look in service mode for an E CODE, most likely E302.
I have been working on the same issue on a 6255.
Re seat the flex flat cables
I got error codes every time I made 2 sided copies, until I changed the Reader Controller.
I heard it came back today after working for 2 weeks. Tech cut tie wraps.Last edited by vigour; 09-10-2013, 12:31 PM.Comment

Re: canon 8295
I also had this problem last week, the screen says "Feeder not available" and I'm not able to do any double sided prints at all. Also the paper sensor light doesn't come on but when the machine starts up everything seems normal. No error code comes up on the screen but I looked in SM and it has E302-0101. I thought this may be due to dust as the environment it's in is incredibly dusty. Switch the machine off and on then it worked without doing anything at all.
Removed dust from the boards at the back(DC and Main) and again no issues.
If it comes up again then I'll check the flat cables as you all suggest. Which cable would be getting pinched though?Comment

E302-0101 is defined as a backside white shading failure.
Try re-seating both ends of the flexible ribbon cable that attach to the DADF scanner unit.
One end is on the scanning unit itself and the the other end is found at the Reader Controller connector number J105.
Try re-seating the connection ends first.
