c2550 Canon. Fuser Film Suspected abuse ? Vandalisim ?

What do you think? Looks like it was cut with a box cutter a few times here and there. Would you grease this scratched element? Looks like it might not be worth a new film ? Would you put a new film on this ? ....wwyd

This is a first aftermarket film failure I have seen. So the cuts look like a knife rather than heat stress cracks from the inside?

If the Heating Element don't have pronounced scratches is electrical fine and the other components in fuser, like pressure, bushings looks good, yes change the film

The heating element is very worn out, i would suggest you to replace the whole film unit

Can't seem to see the collars in the pics. Those are responsible for ensuring the fixing film stays relatively round. Looks like they broke, fell out and the fixing film was folded. Replace it.

I would say the customer has gone in there & tried to remove a jam with a pair of scissors etc, had one go just like that we billed the customer for accidental damaged they didn't question it at all, No further questions your honor!

If this is the work of an over-enthusiastic enduser attempting to remove a jam, you'll see gouge marks in the fuser inlet and/or outlet guides. From the pix I've seen so far, it's still unclear if the enduser did this. With the limited information that I have, I'd guess no. Gouge marks from a metal implement are typically perfectly straight cuts crossfeed, and your cuts are not perfectly straight. They seem to follow the grain of the fixing film material.

The inlet or outlet guides may tell another story. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
