    Canon copier question

Hello, I purchased 2 Canon IR C3200 copiers from the previous tenant when I moved into my new office. These were nicely working units but sometime between the prior tenant leaving and me moving into that space, somebody stole all the toners and drums. I have been dragging my feet in spending over $1000 on 4 drums so the machines have sat here for about 2 years. At this point I just want to get one of them running as maybe other issues have settled in while the machines have sat here idle... i fear some rubber rollers may become flat from sitting in 1 position or some other gremlin.

Maybe I should just scrap these machines but I know that they worked as I was looking forward to using 1 regularly and eventually making the second one a spare parts donor. Now I am confused and just want to get one of them working as cheaply as possible (maybe find some used toners and drums so I can make sure that they are still in good working order).

I am a rookie when it comes to these copiers as I mostly worked on older HP laserjet printers in my previous career.

My question to you is if you think I should mess with these machines or should I just scrap them? Also, how reliable are these machines... will they plague me with issues or are there only a few things that I need to look out for? I will not print much on them except for color printing and posters requiring a larger paper size.

Thanks in advance for any and all feedback!

    Hi Paul,

IRC 3200 were being sold almost 6-7 years ago and am afraid if you could get the required spares to fix them. Even if you do, the performance is not upto the expectation especially if you use them for low volumes. This is a feedback since I have seen them work in close proximity. Try spending the least on them.

If the fix unit has not been heated up for two years> and the
green release preassure handle is indown position ,u may have a flat spot on heat roller
__Remove them to inspect-- what was location of area enviorment on stored products
, get a tech to inspect printers
**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**

Good Luck! Even with some decent drums, the fuser is probably flat and you will be wasting time and money.

In addition, the HP's in your past are nothing like the IRC3200. You have a very steep learning curve. Dump them and get something 5 years old or less. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
