Another thing to look at is the blanking assembly. The blanking assembly will fill up with dust. It must be cleaned about once a year.
When the cleaning lamps are shaded by lots of dust, the residual charge is not completely cleaned off the drum, and accumulates with each charge/discharge cycle, darkening the copies. It is not unheard of to have blown cleaning lamps on machines of this age. They are typically wired in (4) parallel groups three neon bulbs in series. So you loose three bulbs when one goes out.
=^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

blackcat is right. remove the blanking assy, real easy to do, but few do it. you can tell if its dirty or not by looking at the yellow mylar, maybe its red, i dont know. remove the drum to inspect, best just take the stupid assy out and clean it. Just because it says its refurb doesn't mean anything. do a ccd adjust too. service mode 4, ccd adjust. put about 10 sheets of white paper on the platen first. not the problem but make sure the drum primary and offset are set correctly in the copier and do an apvc mr in service mode 4. Also check the mirrors to make sure there is no grease or oil on them. especially in the corner of mirror 2. seen this cause it to do the same thing. My fault too. Also clean the mirror with the cleaning tool on the right side of machine under lens cover, nobody cleans those either. If I'm a little off on these it because we no longer have these machines i our territories for probably 5 years or more now.Comment

There's still a few of these out. It was a pretty solid 30ppm analog. Like my Ford: Easy to fix, just have to fix it every day....

I had a problem like this several months ago and after checking the machine and my charge wires I then check the Blank exposure shutter and found that it was not operating properly and had to replace it.
so far all is okay with this machine had not had any problems since.

when you change the drum on a np6030 the drum has a sticker on the front with a value for primary and a value for ip these new values have to be intered in service mode check settings of the door specs to see that they match other settings in machine service mode . with the new drum installed and the door specs set the image may be a little dark go back into service mode and adjust the value for primary up or down untill you get the image you want. I reinterate set set all settings to door specs adjust primary.Comment

door specs are nice to get back but the book calls for you to do apvc mr after you install the drum and enter the drum specs primary and ip offset. do after the drum and settings are in place. What that does is roll back the settings to the new drum settings. It reinitializes it. Because as the drum wears it compensates for it and now if you stick in a new drum without doing that it will still be at the compensated settings of the old primary and offset. even if it is the same setting you still need to do it. If you need to tweek on something after you clean the pre cleaning lamps, then tweek on the N-Bias. go up to -15 or -25 on that to lighten. its my suggestion to leave the drum settings same as is on the drum label to make sure it compensates properly. Believe me you will get better results and longer drum life by tweeking on the N bias only. APVMR is like the last thing in service mode 4. so its easy to miss. all you do is say ok and it does it all by itself, runs like a bigger machine, while it is adjusting itself, like they do just before it comes ready. This one will only need to be run once after drum replacement. The biggest part of a crappy copy with these is the optics and drum. if you start having a crappy copy and you want to stretch the drum then do the bias N thing. this will need to be set back to 0 after replacement of new drum, you tweek later to stretch drum and make copies look good again, until you can return with another drum unit. Of coarse fixing components is another problem, but you can look at that and see if it looks like crap or not, you know worn rollers, bearing dust on lower roller bearings, and of course clean the optics on both left and right side under the lens cover and use the tool next to the lens cover to clean the slit glass that sits above the drum. need to take the drum out to do this. That is why the tool is shaped the way it is, made to fit in there and clean. clean the transfer area too. seems to me this had a transfer wire but no primary wire. replace the transfer wire too, its not that hard to do.That's all there is to it. These machines might be popular where you are, but for where i live these are old news, about 6 years ago or so. Its been awhile. we try and push all new products, and get rid of the old ones, so they never appear again in our area. maybe wholesale them out or send them to the boneyard.Comment

^)#) lamp cables are usually preety good..changed them IS lead on all other np copiers but never had to change on 6030 family...verify it...does lamp dim at end of scan? Is there lead edge and side blanking? As stated the pre-exp/blanking ass'y get dirty. Some times the shutters get lazy also. Have had composite power supply problems on these(HVT and DC). Re-soldering around high-voltage transformers and regulators usually fixing problem(notorious for cold solder joints). Also install star washer on ground screw on AC filter pwb. Clean up mounting screw ground planes on compositeComment
