Re: C284e mfp and ssd boards
Yes its possible but tricky and you can loose your machine and that's not on me...
Change out the MFPB only and use the existing SSD from your problem machine, start it with firmware and be sure to do the correct model selection.
If that does not work put the old board back and start with firmware and model selection.
Did warn you. Don't change the MFPB and the SSD at the same time!
Ever used the reset boot utility?Whatever -

There's specific procedure how to fit used MFP board for a test purpose.A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.Comment

Re: C284e mfp and ssd boards
try powering up machine with USB service port cover open but NO USB stick inserted. there is a sensor for that usb cover and for some reason I have been able to get machine to ready state by leaving cover open while powering on. This allowed me to get into service mode to format hdd, etc.Comment

Re: C284e mfp and ssd boards
I know this is an old thread but after cleaning up a C554e the machine kept getting hung up on 2 bars. I tried reloading firmware but the screen kept getting stuck on 2 bars and nothing would happen. I tried the SSD firmware and could get that to load but it still wouldn't load the machine firmware (2 bars). I finally removed the usb cover for the firmware and also removed the Dual Scan PCB. The machine finally came up with the adf error which was to be expected. I reinstalled everything and now the machine seems to be working fine. I think it may have been a problem with a loose Dual Scan PCB on the MFP board. I'm glad I came across this thread. Thanks everyone for their inputComment
