ISW on 4 series and above

Trying to get ISW to work again.

Havent used it since C360 days.

Back then it was just a .tar file that you needed to point to.

Now since all the files are extracted onto a USB, what file do I point to?

I also havn't used the procedure for many years, but it's described in the service manual how to create the .tar file

no ISW anymore for a while.
just extract the files on to the root of the flash drive and boot with it plugged into the covered service port in the back.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
        The medication helps though...

Had a c458 that didn't want to take firmware and it reminded me of how in the past I would use ISW instead.

Thanks for info. I'll try get it to work again

Press and hold the stop button while you power on the machine to enter firmware screen.

Copy the FW0002 folder to the root of a clean drive and insert the drive into the side usb port ( the one used to print from or scan to usb).

thats the 8 series not the 4 series (just for clarification) 8 series the USB goes in the control panel USB and the 4 series its a USB service port on the side of the MFP board hidden by a plate and screw.

Yep. He last posted he was trying to do the firmware on a C458 so I wanted to make sure he was using the correct procedure for the C458.

Regarding C458 that didn't want to take firmware-check machine for incorrect placement of front USB cable.

on the 4 series all you need to do is copy all the files in the folder. the folder ends in (00)

What genius at Konica decided to "de-simplify" their firmware procedure? Why not bring back the CF card

I tried plugging direct to the front USB port on MFP too.

Not sure where KM think we are shopping if they expect us to find 4GB or less.

                            But I got a 8GB old faithful.

But in this case I forgot to bring it and the crappy grocery store selection it just didn't like.

It was more the fact I want to start using the tools KM provide like remote deployment and ISW
