c308 s/n confusion

Hi,

my work purchased a used c308 from a wholesaler and the serial number on the machine and back cover dont match but all paperwork and history recorded lines up with the serial number on the back cover.
Any way we can change the serial in the device to match the back cover?

prolly an accidental cover swap when adding accessories to more than one machine at a time.
ive been guilty of that myself.
easier just to print a new label or use a p-touch.
if you change the serial# it is possible to bork the machine.

The serial number on the cover is the correct serial number, the one in the device is incorrect. Not sure if someone has changed it or not.

How do you know which one is correct!?

Most likely the digital serial is correct as its easier to fit the wrong cover than change the digital serial.

Either way nothing to worry about.

My guess is you machine was used for parts testing..Someone swapped out a main bd or ssd board for trouble shooting, and never swapped the boards back..If you plan on keeping it I wouldn't sweat it. if you plan on selling it then you want that corrected..S/N can be changed in service mode, but I think it has to match on 2 of 3 boards to keep from creating an anchor.

the serial# is on 2 other stickers on the frame of the machine.
look in the upper left area on the frame when you open the side door.
