    Re: 4000P Firmware, Memory, AirPrint

Hi, I don't know if this will be relevant to the topic, but I wanted to share something great that I just found out. We bought second hand Bizhub 4700p to enter our clients fleet, but some of them were very old from 2013 and an LW20 firmware. When we tried to update it gave P115 error.
The solution turned out to be very simple. When you open the momory door, there is a small board called "Forms and Bar Code Card"(attached image). We just removed this board and the printer was unlocked. We were able to update to the newest firmware directly.

Make a small donation to this website and receive a "contributor" badge under your name. Once that is done someone or myself will send FW. Do you want to update firmware because you are having an issue? If printer is working fine I would leave well enough alone with that old printer.

Oh, you're right, I didn't think it might break it. The printer works fine, I was thinking to update it just to have the latest fixes they included but it might not be worth it. I plan to keep this printer running as much as possible, not sure how reliable are these things especially if they are this old.

Good thinking about keeping as long as you can. Much of the new stuff is junk. I'm sure others will agree when it comes to firmware and old models, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Another reason is the OEM stops supporting with F/W, parts, etc at some point so the "latest" F/W may be from 2017! So don't make sense cause it's not really updating.

I have lots of these with my customers, as well as the BH4700 and BH4050. For me, they are great machines. Some of them are over 700K and one is near 1 million! I have the toner and chips and am refilling the cartridges myself on an anyway wasted rainy Saturday, four cartridges per hour, making every cartridge around 100 bucks net profit nowadays. ๐Ÿ˜„

Thanks for the encouraging words as I am not an expert in this field and I was not really sure buying an old printer was really better than buying new. I am happy I did buy it and it works like a charm.
