c654 Original Size Detection clarification & success story (me thinks)

Hi, I have two Questions of curiosity:

    "11.14.6 Original Size Detection
    Copy Glass
    (a) Use
    • To change the size detection table for the document glass.
    (b) Default setting
    • The default setting varies depending on the marketing area.
    (c) Setting item
    • 'Table1'
    • Table2"
Ok that is nice, but what is Table 2 for? There does not appear to be any further elaboration. There is a bulletin: "Detecting A4 and Letter size original from the glass" KBA00028946 which is also sufficiently vague.
    "ADF Size Detection
    (a) Use
    • To set whether or not to give a priority to the detection of 8K/16K size when DF is used.
    (b) Default setting
    • K Size
    (c) Setting item
    • 'K Size'
    • B series"
I assumed "B series" is the ISO standard, but doesn't make sense being in the US. And perhaps I am crazy, but I have never heard of a K size paper type. I just want to be able to understand what these two items actually mean.

Anyways, this machine was cutting off copies (when not using auto tray) and scans. Changing it to the default "K size" seems to have fixed the issue. The scans were particularly insidious as the screen does not show what the machine thinks the paper size is (as far as I can tell). Therefore, the user cannot determine if the scan is garbage until opening the scan.

Also (not huge concern), I cannot seem to find an option to make custom scan file names like on the older models??

Don't have manual handy but as for second question here:
Common Metric and Imperial Paper Sizes - Expedite

Thanks, but to only have two options, one being a an European ISO and a mystery "k size" is odd. If "K" is some esoteric code for US standard sizes (ANSI) that makes sense. The only other thing I can think of is 8k and 16k which makes no sense.

Ok, it is defined further in the Admin Settings section.

Then I searched my entire database (fairly extensive) and this came up for the BH361

Sets the size detection of the bypass tray and those other than the bypass tray in B series or K size (8K/16Ksize).

A mistake in a service manual? Impossible!

I've seen 8K and 16K paper sizes as standard on some Kyocera printers, but never knew what they were. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
