There is your solution,i would try replace lamp first.
Have same problem on other newer model and it was faulty lamp.

Updating, or just re-flashing it. We very frequently had issues with the CF cards getting corrupt in these.

The lamp should turn on to read the white pattern when it's under the slit glass, I don't see that happening but before you even order a lamp as I read on other posts flash the firmware. That should help with the freezing up issue, once you try that then follow next problem.
