    C454e Cyan prints

    Happy New Year to all.
    Hope it's going well

We got a colour drum for the 454 so I was like let me run a cyan print to see what it will look like and if that's the drum needed changing. Cause I think we changed all the rest larder.
This is how it came out

You will need to replace the cyan developer unit.

But check this bulletin for the most likely cause it failed.

The developer unit is no good.

I would replace the developer unit, drum and toner filter.

Vacuum out the ports on the drive unit for the toner filtration as well.

Thanks guys I figured will be something like this. As something similar happen on black unit a few months back. I got a new drum so it's just the unit and definitely check to see if there's a leak as well. Cause this went from 100 to 0 just like that

See the bulletin I attached, if you don't address this issue you will be replacing dev units not stop way before they reach life.

Make sure the Dev box has to black dots by part number so you have the latest revision.

Like the others said the cyan developer dumped. Make sure "any" over life consumables are replaced as well or it will dump again. It can be any other over life drum or transfer belt that will short out causing it to crash. Usually the cyan developer unit that takes the hit! You can use a good one from another machine or since new are so expensive (around $500) you can convert a less expensive black dev unit into any color. Search this forum I've posted procedure here before. or PM me

Most techs neglect to do this after it over tones the firsts time. That leads to future failures.
It can dump an unbelievable amount of toner in the suction port that need to clear toner dust from the parts on the drum.

The last couple times I had this issue, and it seems to happen more with Cyan for some reason, I replaced the DRUM and the Developer Unit together, and I have not heard back from the customers/machines. There was a bulletin floating around regarding lost HVT connections, but I never went that far.

I've never had it be the HVPS. Always over life consumables. 90% of the time it's the Cyan dev that crashes. Only thing that makes sense why mostly Cyan is location in machine. I've had black dev crash 2 times, yellow & magenta 1 time each. Cyan maybe 30 times. Usually ok with just replacing developer & drum of the color that crashes.

Most probably internal machine airflow firstly contaminating Cyan drum grid and from there chain reaction is triggered, machine increase potential of drum and developer is sucked.
