FS-534 Finisher with SD-511 Saddle Sticker/Folder issue with Paper Jam 37

Hello my fellow techs. In my quest to get this C224e with FS-534/SD-511 fully functional, I am almost at the final point. Thanks to many of the technicians here, the machine copies/prints great. However, the folding mechanism inside the SD-511 causes a paper jam 37.

I have used all the basic settings:
    1. 8.5"x11" Plain Paper
    2. Single fold and Trifold
    3. Fed through Tray 3 and bypass tray.
I've looked at the SD-511 install manual and everything checks out, it seems that this saddle sticker has been installed correctly. All cables seems to be attached and secured.

The paper stops just where the two stapling cartridges' are located, and the paper doesn't seem to be able to go down to the folding unit. The rolling mechanism seems fine and rolls smoothly.

Does anyone have any clue why the paper doesn't feed past #37 and showing Paper Jam 37?

    Thank you in advance.

纸张下落的位置不对,它不应该出现在这里,SD511的入口有一块黑色的塑料可以控制打开和关闭,检查弹簧 或者控制机构(The paper is not landing in the correct position. It shouldn't be here. At the entrance of SD511, there is a black piece of plastic that controls the opening and closing. Check the spring or the control mechanism.)

what is the real jam code? look in history. 37 is just a location, not the real jam code.

you can set the machine to display jam codes as it appears unset.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
      The medication helps though...

As hailun stated, the paper is on the wrong side of the black plastic guide. There must be an issue with the plastic guide moving into place correctly. I've seen this a number of times, where the guide gets stuck on a spring loaded plastic tab in that area. I don't recall what was done to fix the issue however.

First picture is the guide we are referring to circled in red. In the picture, it is in the position it needs to be in in order to allow the paper to pass. It should move back and forth, with only a slight resistance if you move it by hand.

In the second picture, the spring loaded plastic tab (circled in red) is what that guide catches on. That tab should not only move back and forth, it also moves in and out (side to side when viewed at this angle). The area circled in green is where that tab touches the guide plate. It is supposed to touch here as the guide moves back and forth, but sometimes it gets stuck and prevents the guide from moving into the correct position to accept the paper into the folding unit.

Thank you hailun and femaster for the lead. It looks like you guys are correct- the black plastic guide is stuck to one side and does not allow the guide to move to the left-side of the unit. This is due to the aforementioned spring loaded plastic tab. On inspection, the tab's spring and retainers looks to be in good shape, and does move back and forth as designed. I've pushed the plastic tab to the side and moved the guide back into place, but when a folding job is performed, the guide moves back to the right side of the unit and gets stuck.

Is there an actuator or some other mechanism that pulls the tab back that isn't working? It doesn't seem to be connected to any gear or electrical component, so right now the solution is still unclear.

Just an update, I added a strip of masking tape to keep the tab from blocking the guide and it seems to work! All functions for bi-folding and tri-folding work without issue. I cannot thank copytechnet and everyone here for helping me through troubleshooting these finicky machines. I'll look for a more permanent solution to prevent future jams, but for now I think this will work. I'll will give back to the community by helping others and hope that we can bring these machines into good shape.

There is nothing connected to that tab at all other than the springs. It only moves back and forth when the guide plate moves it. It's been a long time since I've had to mess with a folding unit on that model of finisher. At this point, I honestly don't even recall what the point of that spring loaded tab was. Hopefully I might have stirred up some memories in some other techs minds and maybe they can recall how they solved the issue.
