    Multibit SW

Looking at the software switches for the Zeus S series line, it seems that SW100 has four very different positions, which might all be beneficial to apply.

    Bit 1:
Hex 01 = Enhance color separation performance during CompactPDF scanning: Use parameters for addressing market issues.
Hex 02 = Further enhance color separation performance during CompactPDF scanning beyond DipSW 100 HEX01: Use additional parameters for addressing market issues.
Hex 04 = For 7-inch panels, the ability to display the registered destination in two lines and set the scroll width to two lines: Enabled.

    Bit 2:
Hex 10 = Enable/disable the function for distinguishing fluorescent pen colors during copying/scanning: Enabled.

But, they are all on the same SW100
Am I right in thinking the bit's are additive?
So it's possible to have combinations of the values like 00010111 to get Hex 17 and that all the above would apply from the single switch?

I'm wondering if this works for function version settings also. As in, SW25 i currently have set to B0 (10110000) for my C458, because the SM says to do so. But the SM is designed to accomodate for the whole range down to the lowest model.
It looks like the starting default for the C458 was V4.0 of the function version where SW was hex 40 (01000000), im wondering if (11110000) hex f0 might unlock more functionality? ie. so that bits 1-4 are all 1?
Probably playing with fire, but curious if anyone has tried this?

Yes if you want to apply all

set SW 100 to Hex 17

Hmm for some reason it doesn’t seem to accept any hex switch change to 100. Maybe needs to be in a different function mode or OEM mode somehow?
Is there a mode it needs to be in to accept the change?
are all of the switches binary on the bit?

I've just tried it on a C368 & a C257i, and neither have worked. It says it's fixed, but when you come out, and go back in - it's back at zero

            System 2 - software switch setting - I've discovered I can set switch 100 to hex 01 & 04 on a C257i, or combine them and set hex 05 , a C458 i can only set it to hex 04

Did you find much of an improvement?
A lot of the linux libraries used for scanning seem to change quite rarely, so I doubt there is much of a physical limit as to why these switches work on the i-series but not the 8 series. Do we know if the CCD's are different? Makes me wonder if there is an OEM mode that allows any switch combination.
They really like to keep these switch setting descriptions vague, it seems a lot of it is due to poor translations of the original Japanese. Has anyone ever got the original Japanese versions of the service manuals for the 8 series (IT5 or Zeus S)?

I didn't actually do any testing, I was just seeing if i could set it, I was actually interested in the "bit 2 - Hex 10" setting. we have a customer with a C257i, on which when they scan/copy fluorescent pens and aren't easily visible, but they are on every other model. Of course i know that the C257i isn't actually a "true KM" device. So I was curious to see if it made a difference
